About Us

🌿We both share a passion for the great outdoors. We love waking up early, throwing on our boots and getting out there. Our favourite places are mountains, forests, and the coast. Here in the UK we are so lucky to have a network of footpaths and public rights of way, which we appreciate greatly.

Spending time outdoors really helps to raise our spirits. Hearing the roar of water and wind, feeling the sun (or rain!) on our skin, helps us to feel immersed in nature and forget about the drone of everyday life. We gain both a great sense of achievement and a deeper connection with the outdoors when navigating a route whilst traversing unfamiliar and often challenging terrain. With aching legs and blistered feet, it really feels like we’ve earnt those beers and chips at the end of the day.

We plan to keep exploring for as long as our bodies will allow us. Mostly together, occasionally apart, but always with some good snacks in our packs!

I’m Jess and He’s Alan

Jess: I grew up in Wisconsin, USA, in the suburbs of Milwaukee. Some of my best childhood memories are going for walks in our local park and nature centre or playing in the swamp behind my parents’ house. Although I’ve always loved nature, it wasn’t until moving to the UK in 2007 that I’ve really started appreciating the outdoors and what it has to offer to those who pay attention.

Alan and I started walking on our holidays when we were saving to buy a house because it was a cheap way to see things that not everybody gets the opportunity to: like the view from the top of Tryfan for example. This really got me hooked! Over the years I have become more mindful of the experiences, feelings, and mental health benefits that come from being outdoors and especially from walking. I hope that the experiences we share here and on our social media accounts will inspire you to have your own adventures, whatever they may be.
